A contemporary new orangery has given an Oldham home a clean and fresh living space. Fitted with aluminium windows, bi-folding doors and glazed roof from Bayfield Bespoke, the multi-purpose area is filled with natural light and overlooks a luscious garden.

Modern, durable and attractive materials were required to complement the sleek open-plan design. With this in mind, slate grey (RAL 7015) powder-coated aluminium was specified for all products to provide a low maintenance yet resilient solution.

The complex engineered roof design, measuring 3.5m² and made up of 24 glass panels and two electric vents, adds an eye-catching feature to the room whilst offering solar control with Pilkington Activ™ Blue glass that helps keep internal temperatures cool. Moreover, the glass benefits from self-cleaning properties, using daylight and rainwater to break down and wash away organic dirt from exterior surfaces.

The windows and Bayfield Platinum bi-folding doors, both measuring over 3m wide and 2m high, are thermally insulated with double glazed toughened soft coat Low-E glass units that are argon gas-filled as standard. Specified to incorporate a traffic door to the left hand side of the Weru system with three panels folding to the right, the bi-folding doors offer easy access to and from the garden whilst providing a windbreak when fully opened. Safe as well as attractive, the doors are fitted with multi-point locks and encapsulated running gear to prevent the system being lifted from the tracks, as well as finger-safe gaskets between each panel to ensure that accidents are avoided.
