Case StudyWith our help, Children’s centre undergoes conversion programme

Hallam Road Children’s Centre has recently undergone a conversion programme to transform it into a specialist resource centre to offer early years assessment provision for children with developmental concerns.

As part of the renovation, window and door specialists Bayfield Bespoke was approached by RKE Building Solutions (tel: 07786 388201) to supply and fit aluminium ground floor systems and windows throughout the centre as well as automatic sliding doors at the entrance.

”Bayfield Bespoke were a pleasure to work with from start to finish. They provided the relevant information and quotes quickly, meeting the client’s requirements in terms of appearance, functionality and security,” remarked Rob Elliott from RKE Building Solutions.

Situated in the North East of the city, the centre is crucial to its community and provides a wide range of services including integrated early education and childcare, support for parents, child and family health services and help with getting parents into work.Aluminium windows, Manchester

Ground floor treatments, a commercial flush glazed system incorporating windows and doors, were fitted in the centre’s waiting area and family room to provide light, ventilation and access, including a fire exit. Built for strength and longevity, the profile has an external aluminium width of 50mm and depth of 100mm, making it ideal for high traffic areas, such as the Sure Start centre. The double glazed units are thermally insulated and meet the requirements of The Building Regulations Approved Document L and have Low-E toughened glass internally and laminated glass externally for extra security.

In addition, 51mm high performance commercial windows were installed in the family room along with the computer activity room, staff room, reception and managerial offices. Thermally broken using polyamide strips for improved thermal insulation, the windows are also tested to BS6375 for weather tightness and BS7950 for security.

Finally, two sets of automatic sliding doors operated using sensor control were installed at the entrance to the centre. Fitted to a top track, alleviating the requirement for any floor tracks, the system offers easy access and is ideal for parents with prams and buggies or wheelchair users. The specially treated track is lined with rubber for silent movement and the four large rollers guarantee flawless operation and durability. Furthermore, the doors are supplied with a fully monitored battery back-up system that will ensure they will open in the event of power failure or fire alarm activation.
